Obituary of Larry Knisell

Larry Allen Knisell, age 71 of Westover passed away Monday, September 28, 2020 at his home. He was born September 9, 1949 in Morgantown a son of the late Charles A. Knisell and Sarah Madden Knisell.
Larry was a proud United States Navy and Vietnam veteran serving on the USS Joseph Strauss. Following his military service Larry was employed as a coal miner at Federal #2 and was a longtime member of UMWA District 31 Local 1570. Larry was extremely active in the union, always working for the benefit and safety of his brothers. Larry was also active in the Westover VFW Post # 9916, where he served as Commander and providing military funeral honors. He was a member of Granville United Methodist Church.
Larry was a loving and caring, husband, father, and pap, who loved and cared deeply for his family and community. He was loved and respected by many and will be deeply missed.
Larry is survived by his wife, Grace Ann Smerka Knisell; daughter, Jamie L. Selders (Ron) of Morgantown; son, Chuck Knisell (Lisa) of Westover; sister, Cathy Brafford (Richard) of Westover; grandchildren, Gabriella, Jackson, and Leah Knisell; and grand dogs, Willow, Forest, and Jenny.
Friends may call at the McCulla Funeral Home, 770 Fairmont Road, Westover on Wednesday from 2-4 & 6-8 pm. Due to COVID 19 masks will be required and private family services will be held with burial at the WV National Cemetery in Pruntytown with military honors.
