Obituary of Jose D. Bordonada

Dr. Jose D. Bordonada, 81, of Morgantown, was surrounded by his loving family when he passed away at Ruby Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, September 1, 2015. Jose was born in the Philippines on January 12, 1934 to the late Jose Bordonada and Pantaleona Bordonada.
Jose was a member of St. Thomas Roman Catholic Church in Gassaway, WV where he enjoyed using his talent of singing for the Lord in the church choir. As the primary general surgeon, Dr. B. established the operating room at Braxton County Memorial Hospital in 1981. He also enjoyed youth sports in Braxton County where he served as the doctor on the field. Some of his passions included community theatre, tennis, golf, boating, and fishing. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and creating memories with them. In addition, he was a member of the Knights of Columbus, AMA, and the American Society of Abdominal Surgeons. Upon relocating to Morgantown, he was an active member of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church.
Jose leaves behind his loving wife of 36 years Susan McDermott Bordonada; three daughters Jocelyn Bordonada of Middletown, NJ, Tiffany Bordonada of Columbia SC, and Melissa Sotelo and her husband Tony of Morgantown; three sons Eric Bordonada and his wife Kelli of Parkersburg, WV, Edward Bordonada of Brooklyn, NY, and Joseph Bordonada of Morgantown; three sisters Lydia Bite of the Philippines, Norma Bordonada of Brooklyn, NY, and Dalena Bordonada of Brooklyn, NY; one brother Ernolfo Bordonada of the Philippines; and two grandchildren Anna and Nathan Bordonada of Parkersburg, WV.
In addition to his parents, Jose was preceded in death by his brother Ernesto Bordonada.
Friends are invited to gather in support of Jose’s family at McCulla Funeral Home, 770 Fairmont Rd., Morgantown from 4-7 pm on Thursday, September 3, 2015 and at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church on Friday, September 4th from 10 until until the 11 am Mass of Christian Burial with Father John DiBacco as celebrant. Following the service, McCulla Funeral Home will provide cremation services. Online condolences may be extended to the family at www.mcculla.com
