Obituary of Tony Sam Urso
Tony Sam Urso, age 82, of Morgantown, passed away Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at WVU Medicine surrounded by his family. Tony was born in Morgantown, WV on May 16, 1936, a son of the late Salvatore and Rosina Romano Urso.
Tony proudly served his country in the US Navy for two years. After his service, Tony worked for many years as a Skilled Glass Maker for Seneca Glass and later worked in maintenance at MUB. He was also a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. In Tony’s free time, he enjoyed being outdoors, especially in his garden, and could always be found cheering on the Mountaineer football team.
Tony is survived by his wife, Shirley Taylor Urso; daughter, Danielle Laratta and husband Anthony of Fairmont; step-daughter, Karen DeBardi of Morgantown; step-son, Louie DeBardi and wife Tracy of Morgantown; sister, Clara Belcastro of Bridgeport; a grandson on the way in July 2019; step-grandchildren, Ryan DeBardi and wife Sandra and Casie Savage and husband Mike; step- great grandchildren, Grant and Grayson Savage; and three nieces and many cousins.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church 1 Guthrie Lane Morgantown, WV 26508.
Friends may gather at McCulla Funeral Home on Thursday, February 21, 2019 from 2-7pm. Visitation will continue at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church on Friday, February 22, from 9 am until 10 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 am with Rev. Msgr. Anthony Cincinnati, STD, VE as celebrant. Burial will follow at Lawnwood Cemetery.
