Obituary of John C. Vance Sr.

John Clayton Vance Sr., age 87 of Star City passed away Sunday, July 1, 2018 at Mapleshire Nursing Home.  John was born February 15, 1931 in Uniontown, PA a son of the late John and Bessie White Vance.

John was always involved in the automobile industry and was the owner of Vance’s Automobile Sales and Service.  John served with United States Army.  He enjoyed working at his business and following NASCAR.

John is survived by one son, John Vance Jr. of Star City, Barbara Mayle and husband Gordon of Brookhaven,  Carletta Brooks of Michigan, three grandchildren, Kristin Richards and her children, Griffin and Lila, John Cameron Vance and wife Kelly and son Declan and Katherine Oliver and husband John, and one sister Wanda Yost of Chardon, OH.

John was preceded in death by his wife, Maxine Howard Vance and, Karl Brooks.

The family wishes to extend a thank you to HealthSouth, Mapleshire Nursing Home, and the Westover VA for all of their care and compassion in John’s time of need.

Friends may call at the McCulla Funeral Home, 770 Fairmont Road, Westover, from 5-8 pm Friday and on Saturday from 10:00 am until the 11:00 am funeral service with Pastor Fred Tomlinson officiating.  Burial will follow at Beverly Hills Cemetery with graveside military honors provided by the WVANG and Westover VFW Post # 9916.  Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.McCulla.com.
