Obituary of David Richard Glass
David Richard Glass, 64, of Roswell, NM, died Wednesday, January 17, 2018. He was born November 7, 1953 in Charles Town, WV to the late Richard John Glass and the late Elizabeth Ellison Glass.
David grew up in Masontown and Arthurdale, WV. He graduated from Valley Senior High School in 1971. He was the Valedictorian of his class and was active in the FFA. He raised two baby beef steers, Apache and Comanche, and a sow, Oinky.
David graduated from WVU in January 1976 with a Bachelor in Science in Petroleum Engineering.
David was employed by the Bureau of Land Management and began his career in February 1976 with an assignment in Alaska. He was later transferred to Thermopolis, WY and then to Roswell, NM in 1981 which was his present work assignment. David received his 40 year work certificate from the BLM in 2016.
David went to fire-fighting school in Carlsbad, NM in 1990. He has a 20 –year fire-fighting experience with assignments in FL, OR, CA, NM, TX, AZ, CO, MT, ID, UT, NV, and Alberta, Canada. When the 2003 Space Shuttle crashed and caused a fire, he went to TX to assist with the recovery. David received over 50 fire-fighting patches.
David is remembered for his eidetic memory and his ability to work difficult math problems in his head. He could recall dates for historical events.
David’s hobbies were coin and stamp collecting and working on Family History. He enjoyed college sports and followed teams with scores and history.
David had a big heart. He was a kind and generous soul who never said a bad word about anyone. He enjoyed and appreciated his job as a petroleum engineer and fire-fighter. David leaves behind a caring co-worker family that he has known many years.
David is survived by his loving sister, Diane Lambert and her husband Mike of Monroeville, PA and numerous cousins.

Friends may gather at McCulla Funeral Home on Monday, January 22, 2017 from 2-4pm & 6-8 pm and also on Tuesday from 10 am until the 11 am funeral service with Pastor Jo McCartney officiating.
