Obituary of William Martin

William “Bill” Martin, 59, of Granville formerly of Dilliner, PA passed away peacefully at Ruby Hospital on November 14, 2015. Bill was born September 23, 1956, a son of the late Charles Frank & Jeanetta Martin.
Bill was a coal miner in the 80’s for Consol until he became injured. He loved the outdoors; either riding his lawn mower, tinkering with cars or just standing by the burn barrel watching a fire.
He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Charlotte Martin, a step-mom Joanna Martin of PA; four sons Russell F. Abernathy, Jr. and companion Tammy of Core, Loren “Ray” Abernathy, Sr. and companion Sharon of Maidsville, James D. Abernathy and wife Tracy of Kingsman, NC, and S.S.G. John “Adam” Abernathy and wife Stefanie of Hawaii; one daughter Rosalee Martin of Dilliner, PA; three sisters Barbara Mayle and husband Jim of Maidsville, Rose White and husband Larry of Polland Mines, PA, Donna Burkhart and husband Rick of Mentor, OH; one brother Clayton Martin and wife Bonnie of Hagans; eight step brothers and sisters: Charles, Wayne, Jeffrey, Stephen, Kevin, Reanee, Kimberly, and Deanna, a special sister-in-law Linda Efaw who stayed right by his and his wife’s side through it all, and one brother-in-law Charles McCormick; several grandchildren Corbin Abernathy, Alexander Abernathy, Katherine Abernathy, Loren Abernathy, Jr., Desiree Pilgrim, B.J. Jefferson, and Halee Lawrence, and his close grandson who he was around since his birth, Dalton Abernathy, who Bill called his “Bubba Boy”; and several nieces, nephews, and friends.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his brother Franklin Charles “Mike” Martin and one grandson Danny Lee.
Friends are invited to gather on Friday from 10 am until the 11 am funeral service at McCulla Funeral Home. Following the service, McCulla Funeral Home will provide cremation services.
