Obituary of Rayne Hutson

Please share a memory of Rayne to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Rayne Sue (Montgomery) Hutson, age 53 of Morgantown died peacefully after a sudden illness on November 18, 2015 at Ruby Memorial Hospital. She was born on July 7, 1962 in Masontown to Rebecca Shackelford of Masontown and the late Joseph Montgomery. Her fondest memories of growing up revolved around the dairy farm she was raised and her membership in 4-H. Rayne worked for The Silver Spur and it was during that time that she met her husband, Michael Hutson. He built her a house on his family farm on Tom’s Run. She loved being back on a farm especially with a much shorter drive to buy peanut M & Ms. There, she opened M.R. Trophies and stared working from home. Rayne took great pride in making trophies, awards, signs, and especially t-shirts for local sports teams. She was only ever as busy as she wanted to be, because she refused to take on too much work so she had time for fun (or a daily nap). Rayne is survived by her husband Mike Hutson of Tom’s Run, her mother and step-father, Rebecca and William Shackelford of Masontown, one daughter, Sarah Hutson of Morgantown, one son, Justin Hutson and wife Emily of Fairmont, three grandchildren, Joseph Hutson, Brady Hutson, and Ty Hutson, one sister, Paula Montgomery of Masontown, and three brothers, Joseph Montgomery II of Masontown, John Montgomery of Morgantown, and William Montgomery of Masontown The light of Rayne’s life was undoubtedly her three grandchildren: Joseph, Brady, and Ty. She never missed an opportunity to spend the day with them. Her favorite activities with them were camping, wrestling, and geocaching, but she thought they made all activities more fun. Geocaching was actually one of Rayne’s favorite activities to do overall. Since picking up the hobby a little under a year ago, she located almost 100 caches, and even placed one of her own. Many of the geocaches Rayne found were on her frequent trips with her husband, Mike. She loved to travel and experience new things, whether it was zip lining in Dollywood, climbing a waterfall in Jamaica, or just visiting flea markets and yard sales in Amish country, Rayne was always eager for a new adventure. Rayne was very moved by the help her family received from Preston County Hospice when her father passed away and she asked that donations be made there, P.O. Box 760, Arthurdale, WV 26520 in lieu of flowers, or to the Triune Halleck Volunteer Fire Department, 1621 Halleck Rd., Morgantown, WV 26508, where she hid her geocache. Rayne also specifically asked that any attending her funeral services wear jeans. She also asked that we all strive to make these next few days a celebration of her life, rather than a time for sadness; and please, please do not bury her with any M&Ms as she would not condone wasting them. The family will receive friends at the McCulla Funeral Home, 770 Fairmont Road from 3-8 pm Friday and on Saturday at the Pisgah United Methodist Church from 10:00 am until the 11:00 am funeral service with Pastor Tom Shepherd officiating. Burial will follow at the Pisgah Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.McCulla.com.
