Everyone should be so fortunate as to have a sister like Shirley. I can't remember exchanging a cross word with her. We always enjoyed each other's company. Shirley was so proud of her children and grandchildren and, when we were together, she couldn't wait to tell me of their latest accomplishments or antics. Her love for her family was boundless and extraordinary.
During the last few years, we didn't see each other often but about seven years ago she visited with me for a few days at my home, even though she was ill and on oxygen. We went out to dinner, talked over old times and pulled out mother's memorabilia, had a few laughs and shed a few tears together. I'm so thankful we had that time together since she never felt well enough again to spend much time very far from her home. Though I know she will unite once again with our mother and brother, I will miss her terribly the rest of my life.
