Obituary of Mason T. Govedich

Mason T. “Perry” Govedich, 91, of Morgantown, went to be with his Lord on Monday, February 6 at Mon General Hospital after a hard fought brief illness, surrounded by family and loved ones. He was born October 30, 1925, a son of the late Frank and Leota Williams Govedich. Mason had worked in the coal mines as a foreman and had served in both the Navy and Army during WW II. He loved the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, gardening, and walking the dogs. He was a member of Mt. Morris Gospel Tabernacle and the Mt. Morris Sportsman Club, where he enjoyed playing cards. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Thelma Panrell Govedich; his daughter, Lisa Savage and husband Monty of Mt. Morris; one sister, Nancy Wolfe of Morgantown; his grandchildren, Christy Savage Walker and spouse Lakin, Jessica McHugh and spouse Jason, and Monty Savage II; and great grandchildren, Mason McHugh, Meah McHugh, and Cameron, Ashton, Landon, and Jenson Savage Walker. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother. The family wishes to thank the Mon General Nursing Staff on the 4th and 6th floors, Morgantown Hospice, and Isabell Lee for all of their assistance and compassion during their time of need.
