Richard C. “Hershel” Mullins, age 85 of Morgantown, formerly of Granville went to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at Monongalia General Hospital. He was born January 21, 1931 in Wise, VA a son of the late Orb Mullins and Effie Adkins Underwood. Hershel was the owner and operator of the former Morgantown Ambulance Service for nearly twenty years and also operated several other businesses. He was very civic minded and served with the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Department as Chief Deputy. During his retirement, Hershel loved traveling in his motorhome and playing cards with his friends. Hershel was a loving and devoted husband, dad, grandad and great grandfather who was loved by his family and will be deeply missed. Hershel is survived by his wife of 68 years, Mary Ellen Williams Mullins, one son, Hershel R. Mullins and wife Ida of Westover, one daughter, Joyce Tennant and husband John of Morgantown, grandchildren, Hershel “H.R.” Mullins, Christopher W. “C.W.” Mullins, Jerod Tennant, and Jodi Weddington, great grandchildren, Alexis Tennant, Delaney Weddington, Liam Hershel Mullins and Brogan Weddington, sisters, Margaret Addair of Cedar Bluff, VA, Shirley Adkins of Sandusky, OH, and Virgie Lee Jones of Lebanon, VA, one brother, Ulysses “Pee Wee” Mullins of Morgantown, brother-in-law, Albert E. Williams and wife Mary of Reminderville, OH and a special niece, Betty Jo Glendenning of Morgantown. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Marko. Friends may call at the McCulla Funeral Home, 770 Fairmont Road, Westover from 3-5 & 7-9 pm Monday and on Tuesday from 10:00 am until the 11:00 am funeral service with Pastor Tim Haring officiating.
