Obituary of Georgia Lee Kerns

Georgia Lee Kerns age 93 of Bakersfield, CA passed away on May 14, 2023. Georgia was born April 3, 1930 in Nebraska a daughter of the late Maynard A. and Helen B. Nelson
Georgia was preceded in death by her husband Albert Wayne Kerns and her beloved son John Maynard Kerns. John has always been her happiest moment of her life. Georgia is also survived by her grandson James Mastri (John’s son) of San Diego, CA. She enjoyed all her time with James and was so proud of him. Georgia truly loved her closest and dearest friends Karen Pautz and her husband Michael and daughter Katarina. She shared many visits, calls, cards and considered them family.
She is also survived by three stepsons, William Davis of Bakerfield, CA, Anthony Kerns and wife Bonnie of Riverton, Ut and Michael Kerns and wife Shannon of Bakersfield, CA. Numerous other grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. During Albert and Georgia’s numerous trips to West Virginia and Pennsylvania, they connected with so many relatives and family members. She now joins Albert and John for eternity.
Georgia had a lifelong profession as a kindergarten teacher and dedicated 30 years helping young children start their education. She was twice named Teacher of the Year for the El Rio School District, Ventura CA. She and her husband Albert were very active in the Masonic and Shriners Club. Georgia also was very committed to her involvement in the Grand Council Ladies Oriental Shrine of North America. She especially enjoyed her participation in the band for the Shriners Hospital in Los Angeles County, CA. She also served as Grand High Priestess and enjoyed numerous friends and other members at local, regional and national conventions.
Graveside services will be held at the McCurdysville Cemetery on Tuesday October 3, 2023 at 11:00 AM. McCulla Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements and online condolences may be sent to the family at www.McCulla.com.
