I extend my condolences to the family of Jim Stallings.
I just found out about his passing today 4/3/16 and was extremely saddened to read about it. He was a terrific guy, warm, friendly, with a biting wit that kept me in stitches both in High School and at the two high school reunions we both attended.
When I had heard about his illness last year, I sent him warm regards and hoped and prayed privately that it would go on a multi-decade remission.
He will be missed but also remembered fondly and with joy and laughter and fondness.

As a long time listener, client, co-worker and fan, I will forever associate Jim Stallings with WAJR. He was WAJR. For so many years, he delivered my news, information and entertainment every day. As a listener and fan I couldn't wait to hear what was on his mind and the collective minds of our community. As a client, I knew the station and his programming meant that it would be a quality product that would reach an involved listener. And as a co-worker I was forever amazed at his relentless pursuit of interesting, challenging and high quality programming. Over the years as we got to know each other better, I was thrilled to consider him a friend. My most cherished moment with Jim was when he referred to me as, "the nicest man in radio." It was at that point, I knew our respect was mutual and his endorsement that day is still one of the highlights of my time with the stations. I will miss Jim - on air, in person and around the town, but his impact in our community and hearts will last forever more.

Susan,
Diane, Frank and I are truly sorry about the loss of your husband Jim. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this difficult time. May the memories you have with Jim be with you forever and may God give you the strength to carry all of you forward in each and every day of your lives.
Frank Pulice, Jr. and I are TKE Fraternity brothers of Jim and we always enjoyed sitting around the picnic tables at the annual TKE Hog Roast listening to stories Jim would tell over the past 30 some years. Jim would make us all laugh until we had tears in our eyes. Jim was a big fan of the Hog Roast Seasoning we used to cook the chickens, beef and pork and I would always give him some of the seasoning to take home. Jim will be truly missed !
God Bless to you all and may Jim Stallings rest in peace !

Sue, I don't believe we ever met, but I've known Jim since I worked for WVRC in 1987. I'd see him from time to time after I moved on, and he was always kind, generous, and funny.
I mentioned on Facebook that I deeply regret the last time Jim contacted me to come play trivia at Gibbie's. I live basically right across the street. However, I was in one of my periods of non-drinking and really didn't want to be in a bar, so I didn't go. Not going is one of my life's regrets.
My friendship with Jim truly was unique, and while we didn't really socialize in the recent past, he was always friendly and helpful, especially when he and Kay would interview me in my capacity as the Office Manager for MTC (when plays were about to be presented, and such).
I'm so glad you had all the time you did with Jim, Sue, and I'm glad I got to know him as much as I did, and to call him my friend.

I met Jim in 1982 when I was going to what was then Fairmont State College. Though I've not talked to him for probably thirty years or more, I considered him a friend from our first meeting.

My thoughts and prayers are with Jim's family and all of his co-workers at WV Radio. Jim's amazing talent and larger than life personality will be missed. He was a influence in my decision to enter broadcasting and I had the pleasure of running into him from time to time. He always had a kind word. God bless you all.

How saddened I am by this untimely loss of a local icon. Jim could certainly stir up controversy in his efforts to give everyone a forum; regardless of their position on a topical issue. I will always be grateful to him for featuring our efforts to get a smoke free law passed in Monongalia County. He was in important and fair player in getting the word out to the community on a host of issues that were meaningful. Love and best wishes to Jim's family and community as we grieve this terrible loss.

I didn't know any of Jim's family, but I want to offer you all my sincere condolences on his passing. He and I worked together when we were in our 20s, and he was always a bright and happy friend, always had a kind word and a smile. We were the same age, but he was someone I looked up to and learned from. Always positive! He made a difference in my life. I was lucky to know him, and I pray he is at peace. Wishing all of you comfort in good memories of a fine man.
