Penny J. Demasi age 74 of Westover passed away unexpectedly on Friday, August 11, 2023 at her home. Penny was born March 12, 1949 in Uniontown, Pa., a daughter of the late Clark Lape and Ann Yuhas Lape.
Penny had been employed at C&P Telephone, Westover Bank, JC Pennys and retired from WVU. Following her retirement, she worked at Christopher Banks. When they coined the phrase social butterfly, they were talking about Penny. She never met a stranger and loved music and dancing. Penny was an avid Mountaineer sports fan, enjoyed going to the beach and camping, but by far her greatest love was her grandchildren, who were her pride and joy.
Penny is survived by her son, Tony Demasi (Amy) of Morgantown, daughter Mindy Stansberry (Richard) of Morgantown, brother, Dennis Lape (Gayle) of Maryland, sister, Sue Merrill of Morgantown, grandchildren, Caitlin Demasi, Collin Stansberry, and Caleb Stansberry, brother-in-law Dave Demasi (Sally) of Morgantown, sisters-in-law, Donna Wilkins of Morgantown, Janet Romito (Dave) of Conway, SC, and Liz Demasi of Morgantown, several nieces, nephews, many special friends and her grand dog Molly Jean
In addition to her parents, Penny was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Demasi, step-mother, Helen Lape, mother and father-in-law, Frank and Betty Demasi, and brother-in-law Frank Demasi Jr.
Friends may call at the McCulla Funeral Home, 770 Fairmont Road, Westover from 3-8 pm Monday and on Tuesday from 11:00 am until the noon funeral service with Pastor Dan Meadows officiating. Burial will follow at Beverly Hills Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.McCulla.
