Obituary of Sandra Mankins

Sandra Jean Mankins, 80, of Morgantown, WV passed peacefully from this life into the next on Monday, August 7, 2023 at Mon Health Medical Center surrounded by her two daughters and best friend of 45 years after a brief illness. She was born July 25, 1943 in Tunnelton, WV. She was the daughter of the late Mary Louise (Watkins) Eye and Clifford Harrison Wood. Sandra was a graduate of Kingwood High School. After graduation she worked as an operator for the C&P telephone company. After her girls got older, she and her late husband, Bob, had a reupholstering business for years in Kingwood, WV where they worked on everything from recliners to church pews and restored antique pieces to their original beauty. She was also a nationally and state certified pharmacy technician for many decades in both West Virginia and North Carolina. She loved Christmas, making candy and treats, and decorating. Shopping for gifts for her friends and family was something she truly loved and she made the holidays, and other special occasions, very memorable for everyone. Sandra is survived by her two daughters: Eliska Diller and husband Brian of Masontown, PA, and Trinka Prince of Morgantown, WV, grandson Steven Hahn and his girlfriend Kasey Williams, of Fairmont, WV, granddaughter Talia Betourney, of Ontario, CA, stepdaughter Debbie Fetsch and husband Ronnie (son Kyle and fiancé Hayden, and son Josh) in Hereford, TX, stepson Danny Mankins and Terri Tooley of Lubbock, TX (children Brandy and Mike Hensley, Carrie and Jesse Ring, and Andrea and Cory Witham-Debbie and Danny have a total of 8 grandchildren), stepdaughter Karen Ortwein, of Cape Coral, FL and her daughter Kelly Negron and husband Armando (and daughter Alex Cook), all of Fort Myers, FL. She is also survived by her brother Charlie Eye and wife Mary Sue of Bruceton Mills, WV, and sister in law Shirley “Susie” Eye of Valley Point, WV. As well as her chosen sister, Patricia Miranov (husband George) of Morgantown, and her chosen daughter Jody (Wills) Groves (husband Scott), also of Morgantown. She will be missed by her cherished pets, Remi, Kiki, and Taz.
She was preceded in death by both of her parents, as well as her beloved stepfather William “Eddie” Eye of Albright, WV. Her husband, and the love of her life, Robert R. Mankins who passed in 2008, as well as her brother William “Bill” Eye of Valley Point, WV who passed in 2022.
There will be a Celebration of Life service held at a later date. She will be interred with her husband, Bob, in the Grafton National Cemetery, in Grafton, WV.
