Marie Jones, 94, of Core, entered into the joy of Heaven the morning of March 23, 2016 at Monongalia General Hospital in Morgantown with her family by her side. Marie was born in Core on March 21, 1922 a daughter of the late John Ird Garrison and Mary Hazel Michael Garrison. Marie was retired from the Monongalia County Board of Education and was a member of the Dolls Run Christian Church. Marie loved her family and cherished the time spent with them. Her hobbies and interests were many and included quilting, cooking, baking, sewing, and gardening. Marie leaves behind to cherish her memory daughters, Lois Marie Dittman and her husband Terry and Mary Ruth Johnson both of Core; sons, John W. Jones and his wife Shirley of Wadestown, David K. Jones and his wife Donna, Michael W. Jones and his wife Louise, Robert I. “Bobby” Jones and his wife Stacie, all of Core; 15 grandchildren, and 22 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Marie was met at Heaven’s gate by her husband of 70 years, Robert Jones, two grandsons, one great-granddaughter, her son-in-law Ronald Johnson; sisters, Catharine Beall and Helen Shafer; and brothers, Dewey Garrison and Roy Garrison. Friends may call at the McCulla Funeral Home, 770 Fairmont Road, Morgantown from 2-4 & 7-9 pm Friday and on Saturday from 10:00 am until the 11:00 am funeral service with Pastors Jerry Teter, Rose Saunders, and Jim Freeland officiating.
