James Carl “Jim” McCulla, 65, of Morgantown passed away on Friday, May 12, 2023 with his family by his side. Jim was born in Morgantown, WV to the late William B. “Skip” McCulla III and JoAnn Rhodes McCulla of Westover.
Jim was a graduate of West Virginia University, and went on to obtain his Master’s degree in Fine Arts from the University of Iowa. Jim spent his entire career, spanning over 45 years, working at the West Virginia Radio Corporation, where he was Director of Continuity. When Jim wasn’t working, he could be found reading a good book, gardening, and watching movies with his son Matthew. Above all else, he prided himself in being Papa to the two girls who stole his heart: CeCe and Emme.
In addition to his mother, Jim leaves behind his wife of 34 years, Sharon Bebout McCulla, of Morgantown; daughter: Ashley Voithofer (Joey), of Morgantown; son: Matthew McCulla of Morgantown; his two granddaughters: Cecelia Grace and Emerson James Voithofer; siblings: William B. McCulla IV (Marci) of Morgantown and Marcie Lipscomb (Keith) of Westover; his mother-in-law: Ruth Bebout; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
In addition to his father, Jim was preceded in death by his father-in-law: Russ Bebout.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to: The Source, 540 Fairmont Rd. Westover, WV 26501.
Family and friends are invited to gather at McCulla Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 16th from 1-3 & 5-7pm and again on Wednesday, May 17th, from 10 am until the 11 am funeral service with Pastor Kevin Cain officiating. Online condolences may be extended to the family at www.mcculla.com.
