Please share a memory of L. W. "Bill" to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
L.W. “Bill” Bartolo, Sr., age 80, of Morgantown passed away at Ruby Hospital on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 with his family by his bedside. Bill was born in Morgantown on March 31, 1942, a son of the late Ernest Peter and Wilma Virginia (Craig) Bartolo.
Bill was a servant to the community, protecting those in the Westover/Morgantown/Monongalia County area for many years in law enforcement and business community, working as a Westover Police Officer, Monongalia County Commissioner, Federal Bureau of Prisons Northeast Regional Training Administrator, and the Founder/Owner/Operator of the Valiant Detective and Security Agency for more than 50 years. Bill took his life’s role as “fighting for the little guy” seriously. His major accomplishment was in writing physical training evaluations that discriminated against women who applied for a West Virginia police officer position.
Bill is survived by his daughter, Tena Rose Bartolo of Morgantown; his son, Lawrence W. “Bill” Bartolo, Jr. of Westover; granddaughter, Lenzi Sara Anger; brother, Ernest Patrick Bartolo (Ann d’Auteuil-Bartolo); nephews, Nathan Ernest Bartolo (Mary Alice) and their son, Samuel Arthur Bartolo, and Shane Patrick Bartolo (Heather) and their children, Olivia and Lilah.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his brothers, former Sheriff Joseph “Joe” Bartolo and James Frank Bartolo.
