Walter Marion Burns age 85, of Morgantown passed away peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, December 28, 2022. Walter was born November 12, 1937 in Morgantown a son of the late Walter William and Gale Burns.
Walter was a retired supervisor with the WV Department of Highways with 37 years of service. He was a member of the Moose, Westover VFW and the American Legion.
Walter is survived by one daughter, Debra M Burns-Cooke and husband Roy Lee Cooke of Fairmont, two sons, Joe Burns of Morgantown and William Burns and wife Melissa of Maidsville, brothers Jr. Burns and William “Bill” Lewellyn, grandchildren, Sierra Smith (Thunder) and their children Gray and Weston, William Burns Jr. (Hannah), Chelsea McCann (Justin) and their children Lilly and Amelia, Hannah Grey Burns, Jackson Burns, Cory Kyle, Jesse Kyle, Edison Riggleman (Teri), Thomas Riggleman (Kelli), and their children: Alec and Abigale, and Scotty Riggleman, and many other grandchildren.
Walter was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Louverna Burns in 2011, two daughters, Roberta Ann Burns Riggleman and Cindy Ray Burns, three sisters, Francis McDonald and Mary Vernon Llewellyn Cox, and Barbara Jean Rogers.
Friends may call at the McCulla Funeral Home, 770 Fairmont Road, Westover from 3-6 pm Tuesday and on Wednesday from 10:00 am until the funeral service at 11:00 am, with James Paugh Sr. officiating.
