Lawrence Elwood (Woody) Carver left this world for his final resting place on Thursday, October 27, 2022 after a short period in the Hospice House of Dayton, OH. Woody was born on February 16, 1930 in Goodwill, WV and lived in his beloved WV until 2017 when he moved to share his time between his 2 daughters, one in SC and one in OH.
He was proceeded in death by his wife Betty Cleary Carver, his father, mother, 3 sisters, 2 brothers, 2 brothers-in-law and one sister-in law, and a good friend.
He leaves behind 2 daughters; Vickie (Leonard) DeSantis, Kathy (William) Fry, 4 granddaughters; Theresa (Charles) Schirg, Debra (Jeremy) Butler, Misty (Leonard) Fry, and Angee Vincent and 4 great-grandchildren; RJ, MacKenzie and Cole Schirg and Wyatt Buttler.
He was a hard worker and loved the coal fields of WV, he spent most of his life in the employ of Dipple and Dipple Coal Co. Returning to work after retirement he worked for Parrotta Paving where he loved interacting with all in the company but most of all loved the home-made Christmas dinners supplied by the Parrottas.
He loved spending Wednesdays with his group of men friends at Wendy’s or one of the local restaurants.
He loved to debate politics with anyone that would debate with him. He was a fighter and never stopped fighting until the last breath he took.
We will miss you and your joking ways. Sleep well Dad.
