Sara Elizabeth (Betty) Brock of Westover, WV, died at the age of 94 on August 24, 2022, in North Chesterfield, VA, where she had been residing with her daughter.
The daughter of the late George and Elizabeth Benson, Betty was born on August 22, 1928, in Morgantown. A graduate of Morgantown High School, she attended West Virginia University and graduated with a degree in Physical Education. She continued to teach in Monongalia County at University Demonstration High School for many decades, retiring as a much beloved teacher in 1986.

She is survived by her son Samuel Morton Brock III and wife Marsha of Durham, NC, and her daughter Elizabeth Ann Moats and husband Thomas of Richmond, VA. Betty will be lovingly remembered by four grandchildren: Reverend Molly Brock White and husband Patrick of Raleigh, NC; Adam Benson Brock and wife Emma of Los Angeles, CA, Hannah Elizabeth Moats and partner John Miller of Richmond, VA, and Jesse Howard Moats of Richmond, VA. Betty was a devout Christian and very active in Westover United Methodist Church where she served on many committees, was a member of United Methodist Women and the Friendly Service Sunday School Class, and sang in the choir for 56 years. With the help of others, she compiled a booklet in remembrance of the 100 Year History of Westover UMC and of the Friendly Service Class. She called her volunteer work "my greatest joy." This included charitable work for such organizations as the Red Cross, the Salvation Army, and Scott's Run Settlement House Pantry. In addition, for many years Betty and her husband attended to and cared for a host of people who were alone, in need, or confined to their homes.
