Alfonso Louis Pompili Jr., 66, of Morgantown, went home to the Lord on Saturday, July 25, 2015 after a 10 year courageous battle with lymphoma cancer. Louis was born on December 21, 1948, in Morgantown, son of Opal L. Pompili and the late Alfonso L. Pompili Sr. He attended Kingdom EMC and he proudly served our country in the U.S. Navy; on the U.S.S. Prichett D D 561 with two tours to Vietnam. He received the Nation Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary (Korea) Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with three stars, and Republic of Vietnam Campaign Ribbon bar with Device. Louis was a life member of VFW Post 9916 where he served as commander 2003-2004 and was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans. Next to Jesus Christ, he loved his wife of 45 years, his sons and their wives, his grandchildren, and his fur baby Daisy. Louis retired from Wilson Works in 2013. He was a member of the Gold Wing Chapter I and loved travelling and fellowshipping with its members. Following retirement, his dream was to make wooden toys to donate to the children’s hospital. He is survived by his beloved wife, Kaye Frances Pompili; two sons Michael (Melanie) Pompili and Chris (Mandy) Pompili; three grandchildren Katy, Nate, and Alivia; three sisters Paulette (Jim) Hefflinger, Loraine (Brad) Simpson, and Cindy (Rod) Brooks; two brothers Paul (Judy) Pompili, and James (Donna) Pompili; brother-in-law Bill (Debra) Brock; sister-in-law Mary Brock; and several nieces, nephews, and great friends. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, William and Willa Brock; his infant brother, Craig; and his brother-in-law David L. Brock. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Kingdom EMC (The Source Lunch Program), 540 Fairmont Rd. Morgantown, WV 26501 A special thank you goes out for all of the prayers that were lifted up and the medical staff for their love and care extended to our loved one through the years. Friends and family are invited to McCulla Funeral Home for visitation from 3-9 pm on Wednesday, July 29th, and on Thursday, July 30th from 10 am until the 11 am funeral service with Pastor Kevin Cain officiating. Following the service, McCulla Funeral Home will provide cremation services.
