Betty Thompson, 88, of Morgantown has passed away February 14, 2023. She was the daughter of the late Shirley P and Onnie (Altop) Mowery of Granville. She was proud to be a part of a six generation of Mother Daughters. She worked and retired from Fel-pro Gaskets. She loved playing cards, watching any John Wayne western movie, baking, crossword puzzles, and spending time with her grandchildren and great- grandchildren. She is survived by her last living sister Elsie Boyd of Morgantown, 4 of her 5 children; Shirley Champe (John) of Morgantown, Richard Champe of Morgantown, Kathy Cox (Mike) of Cross SC and Vern Thompson (Tyson) of Charleston SC. Ten grandchildren Dawn Weingart-General (Bob), Johnny Weingert (Jody), Tisha Allen(Johnny), Sandi Viars, Kristina Phillips(Adam), Patrick Piersol (Crystal), Brandi Hiott, Jason Thompson and Kayla Thompson, Raven Thompson, along with many adopted grandchildren along the way. She also had 20 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren She is preceded death by her daughter, Penny Weingart; and 2 of her 3 sisters Dorothy and Alice. The family would like to thank the staff of Mon General 4th floor and Dr Kahn, also the staff of Stonerise Nursing Home Unit-B and Amedysis Hospice for all the care and love that was shown. Would also like to express a Very special thank you to Diana Tiberi from Amedysis for all her help and love to myself Friends and family will be called to McCulla Funeral Home, 770 Fairmont Road, Westover, Saturday, February 18, 2023 from 3pm until the 5pm service with her granddaughter-in-love, Rev. Akeya Simeon officiating. After services, the family will be gathering at Restoring Life Ministries, 700 West Virginia Ave, Morgantown for a meal and further fellowship. The family is respecting her wishes and she will be cremated. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to McCulla Funeral Home in Westover to assist with expenses.
