Obituary of Richard "Dick" A. Mankins
Richard “Dick” Alan Mankins, 72, of Morgantown passed away at his home with his family by his side on April 18, 2018. Dick was born in Tunnelton, WV on January 26, 1946 to the late Claude Lee Mankins, Sr. and Maxine Virginia Ennis Mankins.
Dick served his country in the United State Marine Corps. Following his service to his country, he was a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service for 20 years and later worked for Pruntytown Correctional Facility for 10 years. He served as the fire chief for the Kingwood Volunteer Fire Department for several years.
Dick is survived by his wife of 53 years, Betty Jean Wilson Mankins; daughter, Belinda Jean Mankins Beers and her husband Richard of Westover; and his sister, Mary Ellen Mankins of Baltimore, MD.
In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by his sister, Ruth Ann Mankins; and brothers, James William Mankins, Claude Lee Mankins, Jr., and Robert Ray Mankins.
Friends are invited to gather at McCulla Funeral Home on Thursday, April 19th from 2-4 & 6-8 pm and again on Friday from 10 am until the 11 am funeral service with Pastor Roger Harris. Interment will follow at West Virginia National Cemetery in Pruntytown, WV with full military honors conferred by the Taylor County Color Guard and the U.S. Marine Corps Funeral Military Honors.
