Obituary of Joanna C. Tennant
Joanna C. Tennant, 84, of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, entered into Heaven on the evening of October 16, 2017 at Excela Latrobe Hospital in Latrobe, Pennsylvania. Joanne was born in Daybrook, WV on November 19, 1932 to the late Charles and Alcinda Tennant.
Joanne loved the Lord and served Him for most of her life. She enjoyed attending Lake United Methodist Church, where she was an active member and served in several capacities, including: elder, Chair of the Trustees, and other board positions. Joanne worked until the age of 78, caring for individuals in need as a home health care provider. She enjoyed helping people, both on and off of the job. Above all else, she loved her family and worked tirelessly to supply their needs and help them in any way she could. Her life was her God, her church, her family, and her friends. She enjoyed bowling, hosting Bunko, sitting on her porch, tending to her immaculate flower garden, and most of all spending time with her family in Oklahoma, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia.
Joanne’s memory will live on in those she left behind, including: daughters: Teresa “Tracy” Donelson and her husband Ed, Sandra “Sandy” Gatwood; son Michael “Mike” Tennant, all of Sand Springs, OK and a daughter-in-law Joy Tennant; of Sapulpa, OK; grandchildren: Erica Cady, Joseph “Joey” Donelson, Angela “Angie” Patton and her husband Jason, Jacob Gatwood and his wife Dacia, Tyler Tennant, Gavin Tennant, Jennifer Hodge and her husband John, and Rebecca Carr; great-grandchildren: Tytan Goodman, Lovee Carnes, Preston Cady, Jade Patton, Scott Patton, Levi Gatwood, Tyler Hodge, Anthony Hodge, Brandon Hodge, Codi Carr, and Colton Carr; her sister: Jackie Staten of New Athens, OH; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
In addition to her parents, Joanne was embraced at heaven’s gate by her son: RonTennant; a granddaughter: Melissa “Missy” Gatwood; and sisters: Bernice Tennant, Edis Ammons, Georgie Dean, Nellie Presock, Martha Yost, and Connie Pollard; brothers Harold Tennant and Bobby Tennant; and the father of her children and former husband: Jack Tennant.
Friends and family are in invited to the Daybrook Methodist Church, 2552 Daybrook Rd. Fairview, WV for a remembrance service on Sunday, October 22, 2017 at 2 pm. In honoring her wishes, McCulla Funeral Home has provided cremation services and her remains will be laid to rest next to her granddaughter, Missy Gatwood, in Mannford, Oklahoma at Oak Hill Cemetery.
