Obituary of Arch Sylvester Wilkins, Jr.
Please share a memory of Arch to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Arch “Bud” Wilkins, 74, of Westover, went to join the Lord and was reunited with his wife of 49 years, on Wednesday, January 11, 2017. He was born on March 28, 1942, the son of the late Arch S. Wilkins and Lena (Davis) Wilkins.
Arch retired in 1998 and was a 47 year member of Boilermakers Union Local #667. Arch was an avid vehicle collector. His passion in life was restoring antique vehicles. He was always looking for the next classic car or truck to restore. He enjoyed shows and was a member of the Dream Machine Car Club. He loved following WVU Mountaineer Football and UHS athletics. For over 35 years, He was often seen in the stands cheering on his children and his grandchildren during their athletic events and became “Pap” to all who knew him.
There was no greater love or sense of pride than his family who adored him. He was loving, kind, and generous. He touched so many lives and had many friends. His wit and sense of humor was always a source of entertainment even in his last days.
He is survived by his children: Kimberly Cordwell and her husband Richard who he loved as a son; William (Bill) Wilkins and his wife Carol; The lights of his life was his grandson, Jared Wilkins and granddaughter Kayla Wilkins. He is also survived by special siblings Linda Huggins and her husband Bob of Mt. Morris, PA and Lawrence (Buck) Wilkins and his wife Dorothy of Mt. Morris, PA and Jean Neer of Bruceton Mills, WV. Additional siblings include Ray Wilkins and his wife Heather of Hamilton, OH and Evelyn Rose and her husband Junior of Mt. Morris, PA.
In addition to his parents, He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Darlene; two sisters, and an infant brother.
The family wishes to thank all of the excellent caregivers he had at the acute rehab wing of Mapleshire Nursing Facility. He received outstanding care and was treated by all with such love and compassion. A special thank you to Kerry Raber, our angel.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that contributions be made in Arch’s memory to Leadmine United Methodist Church, 1414 Horseshoe Run Road Parsons, WV 26287.
