Obituary of Rev. David M. Hudson

Please share a memory of Rev. David to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
The Rev. David M. Hudson, Bishop of Riverside Apostolic Church, was awarded his promotion into the Heavens in the early hours of Wednesday, October 26, 2016. Having diligently worked for the Kingdom of God since his spiritual birth in 1957, He has fought a good fight, finished the race and receives the reward that his favorite Book talked so much about. To condense a life so well lived is impossible in these few paragraphs, but this paraphrase will give you an insight into the ministry and impact he had in his community and around the world. David M. Hudson was born in Charleston, West Virginia on September 24, 1948. He graduated from Nitro High School and continued his education, seeking a degree in chemical engineering at West Virginia State College. During his time at WVSC he received his calling to the ministry and went on to the Apostolic Bible Institute in St. Paul, Minnesota and Texas Bible College in Houston, Texas. He currently holds an Honorary Doctorate Degree in Theology from Indiana Bible College awarded in 1988. Bishop Hudson received his ministerial license in 1967 with the United Pentecostal Church International, and was ordained into the ministry in 1973. From 1967 to 1971 he and his wife Brenda evangelized throughout the United States. In 1971, at the age of 23, Pastor Hudson began his first pastorate in Fayetteville, West Virginia, and went on to hold pastorates in Walkerton, Indiana; Monett, Missouri; Syracuse, Indiana; and Morgantown, West Virginia, where he served as senior pastor for 30 years (1985 – 2015). Offices held by Pastor Hudson include the following: Indiana Sectional Youth Leader Indiana District Youth President Presbyter of West Virginia District UPCI Member of the Board of Governors Apostolic Coalition Washington D.C. Editor “Apostolic Voice” Board Member, Citizens Concerned for Community Values Harvestime Radio Commissioner West Virginia District Secretary Executive Presbyter Northeast Region, UPCI General Board of Presbyters, UPCI Adjunct Professor, Indiana Bible College Ministers Appeal Council UPCI WV District Superintendent WV State Coordinator, Christians United For Israel In total Bishop Hudson served the Indiana District, the West Virginia District as well as the entire United Pentecostal Church International organization for a total of 32 years and served as a pastor in multiple states for a total of 45 years. Bishop Hudson traveled in mission work internationally in over 55 countries and on five continents preaching and teaching in conferences, crusades, camp meetings, Bible Schools and training seminars. He was an ardent supporter of Israel and dearly loved the Jewish people. He visited Israel over 20 times, often to lead groups there. Bishop Hudson adored his family and cared more about experiences than things as evidenced by the many meals he shared with his loved ones. The trips, the singing, the attending of so many conference taking his family with him as often as possible. His purpose was evident. He loved and served his God, followed by his family always keeping things in perspective, knowing that you only live this life once, so make the most of it. Bishop Hudson’s wonderful legacy is carried on by his wife of 49 years, Brenda, and two sons and their families: Nathaniel (pastor at Riverside Apostolic Church in Morgantown, WV) and his wife, Candace, and son, Chandler. Derek (architect) and his wife, Raeanna (school teacher), and daughter, Emma Grace, and son, Gauge Michael, of Atlanta, GA; father, Charles Hudson; and sister, Diana Hudson. He was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Coleman Hudson. His last endeavor was to help build a church in one of the nations he traveled in.
