Amanda Beth “Mandy” Westbrook, age 30, passed away at home on Sunday, May 8, 2016 in the arms of her mother and father and surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Morgantown, March 29, 1986. She attended special education classes in Monongalia County and graduated from Morgantown High School in 2007. Mandy was a special young lady who touched everyone she knew. She loved life and communicated her happiness with her beautiful smile. She is survived by her mother and father, Carrie Cobun-Stark and Mark Westbrook. Their respective spouses, Matthew Stark (step-father), and Tracy Novak (step-mother), as well as both grandmothers, many aunts, uncles, step-siblings and cousins on both sides of her family. The family would like to thank the amazing network of care givers and health care professionals who worked with Mandy throughout her life: The staff of Valley Health Care, who did an outstanding job of coordinating her benefits and programs; The nurses and staff from Interim Health Care who provided daily care for her; The doctors, nurses and staff associated with WVU Health Care and Ruby Memorial Hospital; Dr. Joshua Dower and the staff from hospice for the advice and assistance they provided in Mandy’s last two months of life. We will forever be indebted to all of you for the love and care you provided to our angel. Mandy and her mother helped educate hundreds of medical students, residents and educators on the importance of family centered care and parent/professional collaboration. Flowers will be accepted, but donations may be made in Mandy’s name to the WVU Children’s Hospital at PO Box 8200 (ROC 117) Morgantown, WV 26506. Friends will be received at McCulla Funeral Home, 770 Fairmont Road Westover, on Tuesday from 6-8 PM, on Wednesday from 1-4 & 6-8 PM, and Thursday from 1 PM until the 2 PM funeral service.
