Obituary of Patricia Ann Kudla
Please share a memory of Patricia to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Patricia Ann Miller Kudla, age 83, of Westover, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at Mapleshire Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born on March 17, 1933 in Georgetown, Monongalia County, the daughter of the late Harry Clay and Minnie Marie Parks Miller. She married Matthew Francis Kudla on October 10, 1953 at St. Teresa Roman Catholic Church. Together, they raised two daughters.
Patricia was a homemaker, and dedicated her life to caring for her family. She was an excellent cook, and her favorite pastime was reading cookbooks and discovering new recipes. There was always a place at her table for friends and loved ones. Patricia also loved American and West Virginia history, and in many ways served as the family historian. During her life, she exemplified how to preserve and honor the memories of those who have passed away, but are never forgotten.
Her other hobbies included vegetable and flower gardening, canning and preserving food, and watching sports. She especially enjoyed watching football and cheering on the Mountaineers and the Steelers. She was also a great advocate and protector of animals, and provided a loving home to many during her life. Patricia cherished every moment, relishing the simple joys of each and every day. Her warmth, her keen sense of humor, and her zest for life blessed her family with many wonderful memories.
Patricia is survived by two daughters, Rebecca Kudla of Alexandria, Virginia, and Debra Duda and husband Mark of Westover; one granddaughter, Jessica Foster and husband Michael of Westover; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and her three brothers: Kenneth Miller, William Miller, and John Miller.
In honoring her wishes, Patricia will be laid to rest during a private burial at East Oak Grove Cemetery on Monday, May 9, 2016. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to M-SNAP in Patricia’s memory.
The family would like to thank the staff of Mapleshire for their care, support, and kindness these past several months. Their dedication to her comfort and dignity brought peace to Patricia and her family in her final days.
Condolences may be sent to the family at McCulla Funeral Home.
